our little girl

our little baby has grown into a little girl now.

sometimes she amazes us with the things she remembers and says. certain days she would tell me about her day in school and what her little school mates do. she could name all the classmates name from her class photo..(though leanne is disappointed that she was not in the photo as it was taken during the period when she was home due to te virus attacks). however, there was once when i got home and kept asking her question after question only to be greeted by a sigh from her. i asked again...'leanne, why did you sigh? was mommy asking you too many questions?' and the little sweetie said 'yeah...'

leanne also remembers all kinds of things that we say. there was one evening when i was having dinner and i nonchalantly told her that when she is nine year old, she can eat la-la (chilli). a few days later, she told auntie anna that she could eat la-la when she is nine year old.

she's also starting to display some interest in mandarin and cantonese. sometimes she would babble off thinking that she was speaking mandarin much to our amusement. sometimes auntie anna would be taken in and would look at me for affirmation if leanne was intend speaking mandarin.

i don't know where she learnt to curtsey..

Leanne's 1st Love

It seems that Mr S will have more to worry than most dads when it comes to their daughter's interest in the birds, bees and other general fascination with the opposite sex.

Two days ago, Leanne declared her love for an 8 year old boy. That is not the only thing keeping her dad, me, awake at night. She also showed an uncanny ability to understand the significance of touch as an extension of affection and love.

It went a bit like this: Leanne and Gramma return from pre-nursery and are in the lift with said boy whom they recognise as a neighbour from another floor. Leanne reaches for the lift buttons as she normally does but the boy stops her - holding onto her shoulder while doing so. There was no reaction and no hint of what was to come next. When she left the lift car, she told her Gramma, "Chia-chia, when you bathe me later don't wash here [pointing to her shoulder where she was involuntarily held!]. I love that boy."

?!

What will I do when she turns seven?!

The next morning, Mrs S asks Leanne to tell me what happened in the lift. Leanne offers coyly, "I wanted to press the (lift) buttons but the boy touched me here. I don't love the boy anymore ..."

"Why?" I queried.

"Mummy says I cannot."

I wonder how long that line is going to work with this girl.

Racial Harmony Day at Nursery

To celebrate Deepavali holiday tomorrow, Leanne's nursery organised today as Racial Harmony Day. Everyone dresses up in a culturally significant costume and Leanne picked out a slightly oversized pink cheongsam that Mr S picked up for her during his recent Shanghai trip. Mrs S had also gone shopping last weekend and had a pair of pink shoes to match!

That is Leanne's imitation of the pose that she saw Minnie Mouse strike during her recent trip to HK Disneyland. She thinks it meant that Minnie Mouse was sleepy too ...

annabelle's first birthday

mr s took leanne to annabelle's birthday party while mrs s attended a wedding lunch of an old friend....

leanne enjoys going to birthday parties and she would always be one of the first to stand around the cake....i heard she had a large slice of the fabulous chocolate cake as mrs s wasn't there to control the quantity.

jumping right in to the pool to join the other children

having fun with isabel whom leanne would pretend to be on the phone with

amusing herself with the colourful ring float. leanne can now say the various basic colours in mandarin
