farewell sandalwood part I

I seem to have an attachment to sandalwood that I can't recall having for my previous homes; not even barker drive or any of the old apartments in Singapore or London.

I remember the first time we went to the apartment. It was on a hot noon day and we just came back from London. The walk from east coast road to sandalwood was a 10 mins walk in the sweltering heat and we wondered if we had made a mistake. But the bamboos, the little plumerias, the simple pool (that some call a water feature) and the apartment made up for the long walk. It’s a small low density development with not many residents; a cosy little place to come home to after work.

Sandalwood has many happy memories for us. Bringing leanne home from the hospital and seeing Leanne changing and growing during the first nine months of her young life.

We’ve started recently to bring leanne for walks to the pool. Leanne likes it there. She is fascinated by the little water fall feature at the end of the pool and enjoys dipping her feet in the water. I started with holding her and swaying her legs in the water. At first, she was a bit tentative and curled up her little legs but very soon, she was happy standing on the steps and kicking and splashing the water.

we're going to miss you, sandalwood....
